eeg brain mapping

What is an EEG Brian Mapping?

An EEG of your brain is like an EKG of your heart.  Using an EEG brain map provides an objective picture of your brain activity.  It identifies specific regions of your brain that may be producing too much, or too little electricity.  A brain map takes less than an hour to record and is neither invasive nor painful.

Why is EEG Brain Mapping so important?

EEG Brain Maps can help your therapist identify issues such as anxiety, depression, and/or attention disorder as well as past head injury.  Clients report that it is empowering to gain an understanding of the physiological nature of their symptoms.  It can also help identify specific neurological and lifestyle interventions to help increase the effectiveness of your therapy sessions, while providing a baseline to objectively measure your progress over time.

How will a Brain Map help my therapist?

EEG brain mapping can assist your therapist with an objective tool to measure your brain function.  Without a brain map, a therapist or physician rely solely on your symptoms and history.  It also helps direct the most effective interventions aimed at improving how your brain functions.  An EEG brain map can identify if your brain function is being affected by environmental factors, genetic factors, or due to post-concussion activity.  EEG biofeedback sessions (Neurofeedback) may be recommended to retrain your brain activity to an optimal state.  These interventions can improve how your brain functions while your therapist is working with you on trauma treatment, behavioral and/or cognitive strategies.

Is there evidence supporting EEG Brain Mapping?

There are many available research studies on EEG for a wide variety of clinical indications, including memory problems, anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, trauma, traumatic brain injury (TBI), ADD/ADHD, cognitive decline and processing issues.

Can I record a Brain Map even if I am currently taking medication?

Continue to take your medications prescribed by your doctor.  We know how medications affect your brain map and can account for this when reviewing the results.
